Stuff

I have seen the most spectacular rainbows since we moved to Colorado
Alexa in her soccer practice clothes
Um, are we going to play soccer or model, she loves to look cute, and she loves to play soccer!

Lamby has become part of our family and Alexa made me take this picture of her yesterday after she put bows in her hair.

Update: Dallin slept in until 6:30 this morning and hasn't gotten up in the middle of the night in 3 days. Maybe he is finally getting the hang of it. He is still crazy though. He gagged himself twice this week by choking on things and threw up both times. Both times he was in his car seat so the seat had a disifectant "bath" this morning.

I am coaching Alexa's soccer team so after we had practice on Monday Alexa was telling me how much she liked having me for a coach. I hope it is fun for everyone. It is fun to see the faces of the little girls as they try to play the sport that they have seen and admired. I hope they have a good experience and want to play again. I am having fun being involved in the sport again.

Obsession

So, this past week I have been thinking of writing a post about how much I LOVE Skippy peanut butter. As I was getting ready to write I decided to read my friend Denae's blog and she had beat me to it, but she loves Jif. I think Skippy is far more superior, but everyone has their own tastes. I think my love grew even more on Friday when I went to the local Safeway and for an 18 oz. jar of Skippy it was 98 cents!!! I bought the limit and I am planning to go again. What a great thing to put in food storage. i am sure there are lots of preferences out there, but Skippy is mine. Denae, it is kind of random that we were thinking about the exact same thing, and strange that that thing was peanut butter!!

So, what is your favorite?

Please Just Sleep!!!!

Such a cute little face, but he is killing us slowly with his sleeping habits. Last night he was up about 4 times and then up for good at 6:30 and crazy! He has been running around and trying to wake up his sister. We have gated him in, but he still gets up and screams for us until we come and tell him that he is okay and needs to get back in his bed. To his defense I guess there was a really bad storm last night with thunder and lightning that was scaring him, but Jeff and I are exhausted. Yesterday he was up by 5:45 and he took a nap at 10:30. I feel like I have a newborn! I hope this gets better soon!

Lucky Number Seven

Today we celebrated our 7th wedding anniversary. Wow, have we done a lot in 7 years. We lived in Provo and finished school and then lived in Seattle for 2 years and had Alexa there. Moved to DC while Jeff worked full time and went to law school. We had many adventures there including the birth of Dallin. After 4 years we said goodbye and moved here to Denver so he can do a judicial clerkship (there will be no births here) and then it is back to DC. I cannot imagine my life without my sweet husband. Life has not always been smooth, but I know that we will always stick together. Thanks for 7 great years babe. I love you!!!

Happy Birthday to Me!!!

This is what Jeff gave me for my birthday. The Nikon D40X. I was floored. I have been asking for this camera for about 4 years now and I never thought I would get it. He gave it to me and I was speechless. I could not believe that he actually bought it. He gave it to me on the 15th instead of the 18th so we could take pictures this week and weekend. I will be taking classes so I can actually learn to use it properly. It is so amazing!! Thank you so much Jeff!!
Me and Shauna at my birthday shindig. Shauna took me out to dinner earlier this week to celebrate. It has been so fun to live close to Shauna again.

Blowing out the candles. I think Alexa actually blew them all out.

I had such a great birthday. It was so nice to spend a birthday with family and with close friends. Debbie, thank you so much for throwing me such a great party in your beautiful home. We had fun all day too. We went to breakfast and we went swimming at the pool too. I am now officially 29. Here's to a great end to my 20s!!

Now I can take action shots at the pool!! Awesome!

I have a Kindergartener

My cute kindergartener

Today was the first day of kindergarten for Alexa. She was so excited to finally be in kindergarten. We have been talking about it for about a year now and the day finally arrived. We got ready this morning and then headed to the school to drop her off. Her teacher Mrs. Gerhardstein(Mrs. G) was there to greet us all and made all of the children feel so welcome. None of the kids were crying, but a lot of the moms were, including me:( I can't believe that my little baby is growing up and in kindergarten!!! Circle Time

As we entered the school I held her hand. I told her it was because I didn't want her to get lost in the middle of all the kids but really it was because I was already starting to tear up and I needed to know that she still needs me. She held my hand and just smiled knowing that she would be okay and that kindergarten would be all that she had looked forward to.
I am so proud of you my little girl. Your confidence and beauty amaze me everyday. I remember the day you were born and how excited I was to finally meet you. Now you are entering the world on your own. I hope this is a good start to a lifelong love of learning. I could not be a more proud Mom than I am today. Ready to go inside

p.s. I forgot to pack her a snack and when I picked her up she said her tummy was rumbling and that she was starving!! oops!

I still love you Mom

The Last Resort

The gate the gave us a GREAT nights' rest.

We finally resorted to caging our child in his room last so that the whole family could get a decent night's rest. Dallin has been getting up in the middle of the night and wandering around until we realize it and then he would take an hour to an hour and a half to fall asleep again and then he was up for good at 6am. Jeff and I are so exhausted so we decided to gate him in. I guess we hesitated at first because Dallin and Alexa share a room, but we just explained to her that everyone would be better off with the gate. Dallin still woke up at 1am and was screaming and so was Alexa but I reassured them both and we were back to sleep within 5 minutes. Dallin then slept in until 7!!! Everyone was so much happier this morning and then we were off to the pool. What a difference a good nights' sleep makes.

Dallin is such a laid back kid. He just kicked back and relaxed with his shades on and ate his lunch at the poolHe loves those sunglasses. He wouldn't even take them off when we went into the indoor pool. What a character.

I Found My Camera Cord

We have been here in Denver for about 2 weeks now and I have finally found my camera cord so you can see what we have been up to here. We have been having fun with family, cousins are the best. We have also seen friends who we haven't seen in a long time and we are having a great time. We miss our friends in Virginia though, don't forget about us. Here are some fun pictures from our adventures here.

Dallin in Indianapolis eating a very yummy powdered donut.

The night we got here we had posicles. Dallin is usually not so messy, but who eats a popsicle gracefully?Alexa loves being here with her girl cousin. Madison gave Alexa a "Makeover" and then they put on a fashion show. My kids enjoying a BACKYARD!!! My sister has such a fun one. My kids will get one someday.

Our own staircase INSIDE the apartment. No more fourth floor trekking.
The living room looking into the kitchen. Our HUGE closet. It could be our third bedroom. Our pool has a fountain. The kids love it!Running on the tennis court while we were playing with Jaden.

We got together with my great friend and old college roommate Shauna and adorable Jaden. Dallin is too used to Dane and Ryan and he kept beating on Jaden, so sorry Shauna.

We are going to register Alexa for kindergarten today and then she starts a week from today. She is so excited, but I am kind of sad that we only have a week of summer left. So far, we really like it here. If you are ever in Denver come see us!!

Update

We got home from my sister's house last night at about 6:45 and got Dallin ready for bed immediately because he was a mess. He was crying about everything and just being a twerp. As we were leaving my sister's house I told Jeff that I had that awful feeling in my stomach like I do when I have a newborn and it is time for bed. When I have a newborn I know that nighttime does not mean sleeping for me.

Well, we got him into bed and Jeff installed a lock on the closet door so he couldn't play in there. As he was installing the lock I was reading to Dallin in a soft voice and he was yawning and rubbing his eyes. I was hopeful. As soon as Jeff was done with the lock he turned off the light and I laid down on the floor next to Dallin. I know I probably shouldn't do this it is a bad habit but I just wanted some sleep. He was asleep in 5 minutes!!!! I left his room and he did not wake up until 7 this morning. Maybe tonight I will be brave and just put him in his bed and leave, but at least he didn't get up in the middle of the night and we all got a much needed good night's rest. Thanks for all of the advice. I may have to resort to locking the door if he does return to my midnight troller.

I Want My Crib Back

No Andrea, I am not asking you to send me my crib, but we are desperate for some sleep around here. We have finally moved into our apartment. Our stuff arrived late Friday night and we set up as much as we could yesterday, including our beds, and Dallin's new toddler bed. It took us over an hour to get him to fall asleep last night and then at 4:30am! he was trolling the kitchen and trying to go out the front door. After I bedded him down once more he fell asleep until 6:30 when he was up for good. My sister told me that she has some gates that we can put up so I guess that is what we will be doing tonight, barricading our 2 year old into his room. The only problem is that his room is like Disneyland.

We are now in a 2 bedroom apartment so both kids are in the same room and so are all of their toys. Their closet is huge so that is where we have a ton of Dallin's big toys. He gets out of his bed and just starts to play. I guess tonight I will either gate off the closet or lock the door. Dallin needs to learn to sleep ,but I feel sorry for Alexa. She has always been such a good sleeper. When we put her in the toddler bed she never got up. She knew that she was supposed to stay in her bed. Now since she is in his room we have to barricade her too. I know she will understand, and maybe she will welcome it so she can get some sleep too.

We have also had to lie next to his bed to get him to fall asleep and that is just awful. I guess putting the gates up will be some tough love, but if that is what it takes to get some rest I will do it. If anyone has any other suggestions let me know.

p.s. He did get sick but he only threw up once thank goodness and he is back to his usual crazy self now.

Missing Out

Moving here was going to be great because I have my sisters Debbie and Lisa to hang out with. Today is the second day we have had to bow out of activities because of sickness. Alexa woke up on Tuesday night and was throwing up. She continued through the night and yesterday. She took a four hour nap yesterday. She is dressed and sitting up today, but still too weak and maybe still germy, to play with her cousins. It is such a bummer. As she was throwing up on Tuesday night she was crying because she wanted to play with her cousins the next day and she knew she wouldn't be able to. I am so sad that we have to miss out on activities, but at least we live here now and there will be more.

Lisa's family had a bug right before we came but we think this may be a different one. Jeff and I have had kind of queasy stomachs, but we are trying to relax and so far neither one of us has gotten it. We just PRAY that Dallin won't get it because a sick 5 year old is bad enough, but a sick 2 year old is torture.

On a happier note, our stuff is in Denver!!!! We are waiting on a phone call to tell us whether or not they can drop off the trailer before the weekend(they don't deliver on the weekend)We really want to have it tomorrow so we can have the weekend to unpack and settle in. Jeff starts work tomorrow and he is so excited to have something to do. He has been so busy for the last four years and just hanging out with us is getting kind of boring(jk Jeff) He is really excited to start.

Next week we will be registering Alexa for kindergarten. School starts on the 13th. I can't believe it! she is so excited. I think when she starts to go to school we will feel like we live here. I can't wait to put pictures up of my little kindergartener!!
