I'm Losing it...

I have been looking for a Target bag with a can opener, a new bra, and two new t-shirts that I got for Dallin. I have torn my house apart for this bag and it is nowhere. It makes me so mad that I spent money on new things and now they are just gone. I bought a new can opener after the "incident" and now it has vanished and Dallin's shirts were great purchases from Gymboree and The Children's Place. We are moving in a month, hopefully the bag will show up as we are packing. I just hope the bag didn't get thrown away!!!!

A A Smattering
It's 6 o clock and Dalllin fell asleep on the floor as I was making dinner. I debated for a while, but I finally changed his diaper, put on jammies and put him in his bed. (While he stayed asleep) I hope he is not up at 3am. (He wouldn't take a nap today!)
Asking her teacher, "are we going to have fun?"
Ready to jump!!!!!
Swimming lessons are in full force now. Alexa loves the pool now that someone else is trying to teach her. I have a hard time with her not learning to swim so easily since I was such a fish, and started on a swim team when I was 4. I am so grateful that she finally jumped in the pool today by herself without holding someones hand, and she is going underwater without any problems. She even retrieved rings and even a penny yesterday. She is getting more brave everyday. Way to go Lex!

Finally, we had this delivered to our door yesterday. Jeff made a contribution to the campaign and our reward was this kind of strange looking bobblehead. Dallin loves to hold it and point to his hair saying "heyya?"(hair) Alexa said, "Is he a president?" I said, "not yet, but he wants to be." She said, "He looks kinda weird." I think it is kind of weird to see someone as a bobblehead too Lex.

Morning Person
I have always been a morning person. I love to get up before the sun(and before my kids.) Jeff as most of you know is very busy and it is my time to be by myself. I set the alarm for 4:55 am and only snooze until 5. It is now only 8am and I am posting a blog. I am just so much more productive. I have already run 4 miles, showered, fed the kids, gotten dressed, planned a grocery list and made my bed. I am now going to clean up the kitchen from breakfast and then get the kids dressed and ready for Alexa's swim lesson. I think I will even try to vacuum before we leave. I just love getting things done in the morning. I feel like the rest of the day is open for anything. This makes for a non-night person for me. By about 9:30 I am usually lying in bed reading and falling asleep, but I know that my day has been productive. What are you, morning or night person? What do you like to do in your "alone" time? I love to exercise and read!!
p.s. sometimes I sleep in until 6:30 if I am taking my kids with me to the gym, but I usually like to get up earlier.
This post was inspired by my friend Denae writing about how she loves to nap. I usually only nap about every two weeks when I am just exhausted.

She's So Brave
I took Alexa to have a checkup at the dentist on Tuesday. I knew she had one cavity because I could see it, but it turns out she had three. She is such a good eater, she doesn't even like candy that much. She also loves to brush her teeth, so I was surprised that she had so many. Anyway, we went back to the dentist today and she had all of them filled. She held my hand the whole time and she was so brave!! She didn't cry and she even said that she loved the dentist. Alexa is such a good sport. She is always so concerned about being healthy and doing things that are good for her. She loves to follow the rules and she loves to be happy. The dentist taught her how to floss and now she wants to do it several times a day. Hopefully this love of flossing lasts. I know I hate to do it.
Alexa is such an example to me. She told me that she had to be brave because that is what 5 year olds do. I promised her a milkshake afterward and she even shared it with Dallin when we picked him up from Brynn's house. She is such a sweet joy to be around and I am glad that she is mine.

He's Watching Me!
I have made it a goal that I will iron everything that needs to be ironed as soon as it comes out of the dryer. I was so sick of having a HUGE basket full of things that I need to iron. We were constantly pulling out the iron and it was frustrating not knowing where things are because they were at the bottom of the basket. Anyway, it has been a huge undertaking but it is working very well. So, it takes quite a while. I try to iron while Dallin is sleeping but yesterday I was ironing while the kids were playing on the patio. After I was finished the kids came back inside so I did what a good mother should do and I put the ironing board up and I rolled up the iron cord into the iron and set it on the kitchen table. I was putting some of the laundry away in my room and I heard some steaming. That was strange because I put the iron away. I decided to check it out though and to my horror there was Dallin with the IRON! He had pulled it off the table and plugged it in and was ironing the carpet!!!!!!! I am so glad that I followed my instincts and went to see what was going on. Luckily he didn't burn himself!!! I guess the iron will never be left within his reach again. Lesson learned.

He Wouldn't Smile He Would just do this...
While Alexa did this

I took Dallin to get his picture taken today. I wanted a cute portrait of my little guy that I can actually hang oon the wall. I got him dressed so handsomely and ready to go. He was in a great mood until we actually tried to make him smile. He was a stone face. I tried candy and bubbles, dancing, funny faces and even french fries, but he wouldn't budge. He just cried and held tightly to me. We did some errands at the mall and tried again, but to no avail. He finally fell asleep in the stroller, so I let Alexa have some fun. She really was a big help to me today. She tried really hard to get her brother to smile. Hopefully we can try another day when Jeff is around. Maybe he willl be the one who can make him smile.

Daddy can always make him smile.

I fell asleep last night before wishing my great husband a happy father's day. Jeff, our kids could not have a better dad. Thanks for being the one that they long for. We love you.

I Need A New Can Opener!! I did this to my hand this morning while I was trying to open a can of diced tomatoes. I have the band-aids on to protect your eyes, but needless to say the can opener is in the trash and a trip to Target to get a new one is already planned. Every time we open a can Jeff and I say we need a new can opener well, we're getting one.

I'm 2!!!!!!!!!!!!

Happy birthday to my sweet boy! We brought cupcakes to the park today and I think more frosting ended up on Dallin's face than in his mouth. I can't believe that it has been two years already. He is not a baby anymore. He is such a boy! He loves to run and throw and get dirty. He is always ready to get into some trouble. I love how much life he has and how cute his smile is and how bright blue his eyes are. We have taught him to say that he is 2. The way he says 2 is just so cute. He says it with such a cute little voice and we love to hear him understand what this means. I love Dallin so much. Having a boy is so fun. He has so much life and so much love. He loves to run up to me and give me a hug and a kiss and he loves to say I wuv wu, (I love you). I hope he always keeps this loving spirit. Happy Birthday Little Man!!!!

I Wanna Go Back to Kingsmill!!!

Alexa cried the whole way home from our trip to Williamsburg. We stayed at a resort called Kingsmill and Alexa loved it! So did we. Jeff played golf while the kids and I swam. After he got back I went to get a massage. I can't believe I have never gotten one before. It was so awesome. Then we had dinner overlooking the James River while Alexa and Dallin attended the children's party. The next morning we had a great breakfast and then we drove around Jamestown. It was a quick trip, but it was so fun. We will definitley go again. Alexa was actually crying huge tears. At first it was cute that she had so much fun, but when we had heard the sobbing for two hours it was just annoying. Hopefully we can have fun at home to make her feel better. I highly recommend this resort.

Last night I did something Amazing...
I made dinner! I finished making my cards for card club and I did laundry and cleaned and when Dallin was still sleeping(he took a four hour nap!) I decided to make some pizza dough. I called my sister-in-law Carrie and asked her for her great pizza dough recipe. I made it, it took all of 10 minutes to make. I can't believe I haven't done this before. Then it rose while I finished the laundry and baked it. Alexa came in the kitchen and was like "mom, that smells amazing is that rolls?" I said it was pizza and she said she had wanted delivered pizza. Get over it honey.
Anyway, I tried Nancy's recipe and used ranch dressing as the sauce and added ham and pineapple and lots of cheese. The kids loved it, they each ate two pieces. I asked Alexa if this was better than delivered pizza. She said no, because she didn't like the ham, but I think she just didn't want to say how much she really liked it. Dallin loved it, even the pineapple.
Jeff enjoyed it too. He said "Wow, this is a bone-a-fide crust!" Can you tell I don't make dinner much? Jeff literally gets home at 10 every night and the kids like quick pasta and sandwiches a ton. I decided to go all out tonight. Hold on to the memory guys, it might be a while.

It's a Miracle
I bought those pre-sliced apples the other day because they were on sale and I thought they would be a great snack that my kids could grab themselves, well I guess just Alexa because Dallin would never touch an apple, right?!! He proved me wrong! Alexa grabbed the bag out of the fridge and he has been downing the slices along with her. Hurray for peer pressure!!
He also ate brocolli last night that I hid in his pasta and I hid a banana in his ice cream. Way to go bud. I had to write this down now because if I draw attention to him he will stop and spit it out.

Our Family Home Evening Activity

Dallin finally took a nap, but we had to be home for a long time so he could figure out that he needed to sleep. Can you tell Alexa is a little B-O-R-E-D! At least she is creative and knows how to keep herself busy. Good thing summer camp starts tomorrow!
She is obsessed with this Tinkerbell umbrella, can you tell?
Note to Self......
Stop letting Dallin fall asleep in the car on the way home. It does not help the day go as planned.
p.s. We are feeling better today.

Sickness has overcome My little guy I don't feel good.
I'm trying to keep myself busy. I am having my own little party.
Well, I said in my last post that I was getting a cold. Well, it has been a bad one. I lost my voice and have used a whole box of Kleenex. Dallin couldn't escape the virus. He has had a fever today of 103 and has thrown up once. He is coughing so hard that he just sounds miserable. He has fallen asleep in my arms three times today. I feel so bad when my kids are sick. They just don't know what to do. It is really sad.
Sunday is supposed to be our day as a family because Jeff is gone the other six days. Not a great day of doing much but Jeff is now playing CandyLand with Alexa and Dallin is in bed and I am on my way. Hopefully tomorrow we will be feeling better around here.
We had to miss church for the second week in a row because of sickness. Hopefully we will be well next week.

Its been One of those days
It all started out good with a trip to the mall to play at the play place with a friend. It was all downhill from there.
  1. The gumball machine at the mall didn't work.(Alexa had a meltdown.)
  2. Dallin only took a 20 minute nap on the ride home.
  3. Alexa hurt her foot and has been limping all day.
  4. Dallin dumped popcorn all over the floor.
  5. Dallin dumped teddy grahams all over the floor.
  6. Dallin colored all over himself with a blue marker.
  7. Alexa is crying about everything, and demanding ice cream.(Apparently I am taking too long blogging.)
  8. It is Friday night and my kids are whining, Jeff is still at work and my activity for the night is cleaning the toilets.
  9. I have a cold.
  10. Now ice cream is on the floor.
  11. Truly one of those days
