Excuse me that was funny!
Tonight Alexa was lying on the floor wearing her leotard and tutu and her bunny ears, and bunny slippers. She was blabbing like she usually does while I was making dinner, like I ALWAYS do and she said, "Mom, what would happen if I was dancing on the ceiling?" I said "well, then you would be Lionel Ritchie." I was cracking up at my whit. I said, "Jeff wasn't that funny? He said I don't know what you are talking about. I then sang the song for him and he said he had never heard that song in his life. I was shocked. Was he not a child in the '80s? I am downloading that tonight and we are going to rock out.

He loves to talk on the calculator like it is a cell phone

I am pretty tired tonight. It is nine o clock and I finally got the kids to bed, but I had to post about the cute things that my kids have done lately. I will start with Dallin because my goodness he is just the cutest thing I have ever seen. He is so into his pockets lately. As soon as I dress him in the morning the first thing he does is find every pocket on his body. He immediately sticks his hand in and walks around like Mr. GQ. Today he not only was in love with his pockets, but he had a blue princess chapstick and was taking it out and putting it on and then putting it back in his pocket. It was the cutest thing ever, even the moms on the playground agree. Also on the subject of Dallin, he has great hair. I had to give him a little trim today, but he has such awesome hair with a little bit of curl. He looks like a little California surfer with a touch of Napoleon. We call him Napoleon because if he does not have a pocket to put his hand in he will put his hand through the buttons in his shirt. This reminds us of every portrait we have seen of Napoleon.
Alexa has been very cute as well. Last night she was asking for a snack and she was so excited that I had bought some popcorn at the store. She loves Kettle Corn. She was jumping up and down and asking for "Cuddle Corn" I think that is a cute way to ask for a fun snack. Tonight I was working on reading with her and we came to a difficult part of the book. She got pretty frustrated, but we worked through it and after she finally calmed down and finished the book she gave me a big hug and said "thanks for helping me mom." Good mom moment. Those are the tidbits for now.

The Results are In!!!!

I ran the DC National Half Marathon on Saturday, March 24. It was so much fun! I have done 2 marathons before, but none since I have had kids, so I decided to do a half marathon. It was great! I have done my marathons in just under 4 hours so I was shooting for about 2 hours. I actually clocked in at 1:54:57. I was so excited!!! I found the results online last night and I found out that I finished 228th out of 1203!
I am definitely running this race again. As I was running I was looking around at the beautiful scenery of DC. There is no better way to see this city. I was running down Independence Avenue thinking of how wonderful it is that we have the freedoms that we do. I have the freedom to run a race through this wonderful city. We ran past the capitol, the white house, the washington monument, the national archives and through some great neighborhoods.
This race was quite a milestone for me because last year at this time I weighed about 95 pounds. I have come a long way in just a year and I have accomplished so much. This post is kind of a pat on the back to myself, but I am so excited with what I have done. Thanks for letting me toot my own horn.

I am so glad that it has finally started to warm up because this is what my kids love to do, ALL THE TIME!!!! I cannot take the TV anymore! Finally today it was nice enough to be outside. Dallin and I went to the zoo this morning while Alexa was at school. He loved it. Although, he thinks every animal is a dog he loved them all. I think the thing he liked the most was the 8,000 pound hippo taking his morning dip in the swimming pool. He also loved showing his independence. He has really loved learning the word no! I tried to help him today and he wanted to do everything on his own.

After the zoo Dallin did not take a nap. Those 15 minutes in the car do not count. I hope tomorrow we will be home in time for him to take a real nap. Alexa went home with a friend after school for a play date and I got to hang out with my little buddy some more. After we picked up Alexa we went to Andrea's for another pizza party. The kids got to play outside again. Dallin had so much fun. I swear that kid needs a backyard. That kid has no fear. He would be going forward and without looking he would start going backwards. He was screaming Wheeeee!!! the whole time. He is such a cutie.

After Dallin went to bed I had a chance to sit and read with Alexa again. I have never taught anyone to read, but it is amazing to see her learning how to read and comprehend. She can read and she is actually following the story too. I think this is definitely going to be one of my favorite parts of parenting. I continue to be amazed at the capability of this little girl. Before I know it she will have her nose in a book. I am having so much fun.

I Have Such Cute Kids Cutie
Like my shoes and my ride?
I'm so cute, but mom couldn't rotate this picture.
SO GQ!!!!!!
We had such a fun weekend. Alexa got to go on a date with her Dad at the diner for breakfast while Dallin and I went to the gym so I could run. Only five days left until the race. I hope I am ready by then. Later on Saturday Jeff and I went to see the new movie, "Premonition." It was pretty good, but mostly it was just great to be out with my husband and holding his hand. We took these photos of the kids before we left and I just think they are adorable.

Uncle Brian gave Dallin these Diesel shoes. I had to get some photos. They are the cutest shoes ever. Thanks uncle Brian. Alexa had to get in on the photo shoot too.

More Alexaisms
"Mom, you are such a good mom. You are the best."
"Thanks Alexa."
"Can I have a treat since I said you were a good mom?"

Dad:"Dallin if you turn on that toy vacuum again I will go crazy!"
Dallin:(turns on the vacuum)
Alexa: "Okay, go crazy dad!"

Ahh! The Life

I needed to take a shower this morning so I gave Dallin his favorite snack, peanuts and a sippy cup of milk and turned on "The Wiggles" for him. When I got out I checked on him and I found him like this. He is always so sleepy in the morning. I swear he sleeps about 11 hours a night, but he just can't keep his eyes open most mornings.

I need to update some of the things Alexa has said or done lately. She is growing up so fast.

She has been having an ear problem lately and the other day she said to me, "Mom, I know that my nose and ears and my mouth are all connected. I can feel the medicine that goes in my nose in all of those places." I was impressed that she figured this out.

Alexa has also been learning how to read lately. Yesterday she read a book all on her own.

The funniest thing she has done lately: Jeff and I were reading the paper at the table on Sunday afternoon. Jeff and I had gone on a date the night before to Mike's American Grill. Alexa pulled up a chair, crossed her legs and said,"so, how was Mike's"? and then she took a bite of her sandwich while waiting for an answer. She is hilarious.

To update Dallin, he loves to say Bye, Bye! and he loves to spit out anything that resembles fruit.

The Best Day
This was the phrase that Alexa chose to use today as we were sitting down to a pepperoni pizza dinner with Nick, Ryan and Andrea. Andrea told Alexa how she just loved how positive she was. I do too. It was a great day!
It felt like spring today and we went to the park for two and a half hours. The kids has so much fun running in the sunshine and playing outside again. It has been a long time. Alexa learned how to go down the fireman pole all by herself today.
After the park we came home for naps and a little downtime. All day yesterday Alexa was asking if she could have Nick over to watch her new favorite movie, "Air Buddies". It was a gift from my Aunt. She loves this movie Anna Lea. Anyway, she wanted him to come over and watch it and have root beer floats and she wanted him to sleep over. I explained that they were too young for sleep overs but we could probably have him over for the other things. We also made pizza.
After we chowed on pizza we watched the movie and had root beer floats and the kids boogied to the closing credits. It was the best day! Thanks Alexa for suggesting that we make a normal day memorable.

She's Crafty!

Dallin's Quilt

Burp Cloths
Just Burp Cloths

I have been working on this quilt for Dallin since this summer and I finally finished it. I finally got over the fear of my sewing machine. Thanks for the inspiration, Nancy, Karen and Brynn. I actually threaded the machine by myself today and wound the bobbin by myself today too! I also whipped out these burp cloths for the ward auction too. They only took me a few hours to do, and if I do say so myself, they are so cute!

Sewing is actually a fun thing and I found that I have a creative side that I have been afraid of. I hope that I can branch out to even more projects. Nancy, I wish I lived near you so I could take a few lessons from you. Keep posting pictures and maybe I can figure some things out.

The ward auction is to raise money for the scouts to go to camp this summer. Hopefully, they are not the cheapest thing to be sold. Oh well, they were fun to make and I had almost all of the supplies already in my house. I only spent $3.00! I think that makes them even more cute.

Now I need to make something for Alexa. Any suggestions?

The Long Goodbye
If you have spent any time with me in the last year or so, you know what Werther's mean to me. I think it is safe to say that I was an addict. I had to have these wonderfully creamy candies. I am proud to announce that I have given them up. I have not had one since Saturday. That is a record for me. I tried to give them up earlier this summer and I only made it for two days. This time it is the real deal. I have not felt this good in a long time. I was using these little candies as a crutch. I don't need them anymore and my teeth will thank me for it. I promise that these wrappers will not be falling out of my bag anymore!!! Wish me luck.
